These Terms of Service form a legal agreement between you and Better Village Technologies, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company that operates theBlock. They govern your use of theBlock mobile application, website, and related features and services.
1. Your agreement with us
By creating an account, accessing, browsing, or using theBlock, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use theBlock.
We may offer additional features with their own rules or purchase terms. Those additional terms become part of this agreement when you use the applicable feature.
theBlock is a neighborhood platform created to help people connect, share local information, discover events and restaurants, support businesses, join groups, and find services in their community.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement to use theBlock. By using the service, you represent that you meet these requirements and are not prohibited from using the service under applicable law.
The service is controlled from the United States. If you access it from another location, you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.
3. Accounts and security
You agree to provide accurate, current information and keep it updated. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly through our Contact page if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You may not create an account for another person without permission, impersonate another person or business, create accounts to avoid an enforcement action, or sell or transfer your account.
4. Community standards
theBlock works when neighbors engage honestly and respectfully. You may not use the service to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, bully, or discriminate against another person;
- promote hate, violence, sexual exploitation, illegal activity, or dangerous conduct;
- post false, fraudulent, defamatory, misleading, or impersonating content;
- share another person’s private or confidential information without permission;
- send spam, scams, pyramid schemes, or unauthorized commercial messages;
- upload malware, interfere with security, or attempt unauthorized access;
- scrape, harvest, or use automated systems to collect content or user information;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- use the service in a way that violates applicable law.
Businesses and event organizers must describe their offerings truthfully, honor lawful commitments, and maintain any licenses, permits, insurance, or approvals required for their activities.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit, including posts, comments, photos, group content, messages, business listings, restaurant details, event listings, reviews, and other materials. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights needed to share it.
You grant Better Village Technologies, LLC a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, distribute, and otherwise use your content only as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, secure, moderate, and promote theBlock. This license ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except for copies retained for legal, safety, backup, or technical reasons and content others have independently shared.
You understand that posts, comments, profiles, group activity, reviews, business listings, and event listings may be visible to other users. Messages are intended for their participants but may be reviewed when reported or when reasonably necessary for safety, support, or legal compliance.
6. Businesses, restaurants, services, and events
theBlock helps users discover local businesses, restaurants, service providers, groups, and events. Listings and recommendations may be supplied by users, business owners, organizers, or third parties. We do not guarantee that a listing is accurate, current, licensed, safe, available, or suitable for you.
Better Village Technologies, LLC is not the employer, agent, partner, broker, insurer, restaurant, service provider, event organizer, venue, or seller for third-party offerings shown through theBlock. Any arrangement you make with another user, business, provider, organizer, or ticketing service is between you and that party.
Event attendance and in-person interactions carry risks. Use good judgment, review relevant policies, verify important details directly, and take appropriate safety precautions.
7. Paid features and third-party payments
theBlock may offer paid business features, subscriptions, event access, or other paid services. Prices, billing periods, renewal terms, and cancellation instructions will be disclosed before purchase.
Payments may be processed by Apple, Stripe, an event ticketing service, or another payment provider. Their terms and privacy practices apply to the payment they process. Better Village Technologies, LLC does not store full payment card numbers.
Subscriptions renew automatically only when disclosed at purchase. You must cancel through the provider used for purchase before the next renewal date to avoid future charges. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are governed by the policy shown at purchase and any rights required by law.
8. Safety, reporting, and moderation
You are responsible for your interactions with other users and third parties. theBlock does not routinely conduct criminal background checks or guarantee the identity, conduct, qualifications, or intentions of any user, business, provider, or organizer.
You may report users, posts, comments, groups, businesses, events, messages, or conversations through available reporting tools. We may investigate, limit visibility, remove content, issue warnings, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate access when we reasonably believe there is a violation of these Terms, a risk of harm, fraud, abuse, or a legal requirement. We may preserve relevant information as permitted by law. Where available, you may appeal a moderation decision.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. theBlock is not an emergency service.
9. theBlock property and permitted use
The service, including its software, design, databases, interfaces, branding, logos, and original content, is owned by or licensed to Better Village Technologies, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to use theBlock in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, resell, create derivative products from, or commercially exploit the service unless we give you written permission or applicable law permits it.
Feedback you provide may be used without restriction or compensation, but we are not required to use it.
10. Availability, disclaimers, and liability
theBlock is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Village Technologies, LLC disclaims implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free content, specific community outcomes, successful bookings, event availability, or the accuracy of user or third-party information.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Village Technologies, LLC and its members, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of profits, data, goodwill, opportunities, or business interruption arising from the service or your interactions with users or third parties.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising from the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid directly to Better Village Technologies, LLC for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Better Village Technologies, LLC and its members, employees, contractors, and affiliates from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your content, your conduct, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights.
11. Account deletion and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. You may request account deletion through the in-app account settings or our Contact page. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate actions. Review Section 7 before deleting an account with a paid subscription.
We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or discontinue all or part of the service when reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, enforcement of these Terms, or service operations. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect, including ownership, content responsibility, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law.
12. Changes and Georgia law
We may update these Terms as the service or law changes. We will post the revised Terms and update the date above. When required, we will provide additional notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute not subject to a different legally required process must be brought in a state or federal court located in Fulton County, Georgia, and you consent to that court’s jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and incorporated policies are the entire agreement between you and us concerning the service.
